		<description>Maidens, Spindles, and Mother-of-All
Performance Installation
2010

DESCRIPTION
A performance wherein all the costumes turned into the elements of a hanging forest-like installation. The piece was performed with young people from the London area. The costumes were all based on narratives I had written that were inspired by Hans Christen Anderson fairy tales. The title of the piece comes from the parts of a spinning wheel, and the performance itself moved like a wheel- with a central cog, spokes, and an outer rim.

MATERIALS
Fabric, wool felt, organza, netting, thread, branches, paper, wire, ribbon, wool roving.

		<description>Draw Near(Rat King Study)
Two Channel Video Installation
2011

DESCRIPTION
Fire's Burning, Fire's Burning, Draw Near, Draw Near, In the Glowing, In the Glowing, Come Sing and Be Merry

Two channels which play simultaneously show seven women with their hair braided together moving about slow and laboured. The piece takes its name from a campfire song (above) and from the Germanic folklore of the rat king: rats living in crowded quarters become hopelessly entangled by their tails and live and die as one. The audio track for the two channels is a voice singing the campfire song and it falls in and out of round as the channels loop.

DESCRIPTION
For this piece I operated a pop-up embroidery tattoo parlour. I would stitch tattoos onto the clothes the participants were wearing. The images were selected from my embroidery ‘flash’ wall which were designs that could be stitched fairly quickly.

		<description>Fortnight
Performance Installation
2010

DESCRIPTION
The culmination of a two week residency I wrote and made all the sets and costumes for. It was an 'Opera' performance starring two singers, (Robin Dann and Alex Samaras) a dancer (Paige Culley) a saxophonist (Jordan Armstrong) and a lap steel player (Matt Dunn). The piece was based on a 1955 Folkways recording entitled Folk songs of Courting and Complaint. I dissected the narratives of all the songs to create a single narrative using bits of the original recording as a backing track to guide the performers.

MATERIALS
Cotton fabric, wool felt, cardbord, paper, tinfoil, beets, candy, sound, and dance.

		<description>All Over Again
Performance Installation
2009

DESCRIPTION
Taking form as a life-sized domestic habitat involving live performance this piece was an investigation of the cyclical nature of instinct and habit. I spent my days at Lonsdale Gallery (during open gallery hours) speaking to visitors and preparing for spring. The natural processes of hibernation and regeneration served as the departure point from which I created a time of recollection, a time to lie fallow, and a time of creative hibernation.

MATERIALS
Paper, quilts, antiques, preserves, fabric, knitting.

EXHIBITION HISTORY
Responsive Space Curated by Stanzie Tooth, Lonsdale Gallery, Toronto Ontario, 2009.
(Featuring Toronto Morris Men, Isla Craig, Michael Briand, Annie Morrison, Randy Gagne and Neelam Kler.)
